How We Review
Every recommendation on refrigeratorsluxury.com is built on research, not hype. This page explains how we evaluate home and kitchen products, how we choose our top picks, and what the RFL Score means.
Our approach
Rather than relying on a single opinion, we synthesize the best available evidence for each product. That means examining manufacturer specifications, weighing the consensus of trusted independent reviewers, and analyzing patterns in verified owner feedback.
For refrigerators, kitchen appliances, cookware, furniture and home decor, we pay particular attention to capacity or size, build quality and materials, performance and consistency, noise, energy use, ease of cleaning and maintenance, and the availability and cost of repairs and parts. We consider these factors in the context of how a product is meant to be used, whether that means a compact apartment kitchen, a busy family home, or a full kitchen renovation.
What we weigh
- Performance and published specifications. We examine available data and manufacturer documentation, and consider whether the stated capabilities fit the product’s intended use.
- Independent expert review consensus. We compare assessments from reputable, independent reviewers and note where they agree or disagree on performance, comfort, and reliability.
- Verified owner feedback. Where available, we look for recurring observations about everyday use, durability, and long-term satisfaction. We treat these alongside technical evidence, not as conclusive proof.
- Value and cost of ownership. Price is only part of the picture. We consider energy use, replacement filters and parts, warranty terms, delivery and installation costs, and maintenance requirements.
- Usability and safety. We look at controls, layout and storage, size and weight, noise, app and smart features, and safety features that affect everyday use.
The RFL Score
The RFL Score (Refrigerators Luxury Score) condenses our research into a single rating from 0 to 10 so you can compare products at a glance. It reflects performance, design and build, ease of use, and value for money, weighted for what matters most in each product category.
A higher score indicates a stronger overall assessment relative to the product’s category, intended use, price, and available alternatives. It does not mean a product is the best choice for every home or every household.
Scores are based on the information available at the time of evaluation, and we may revise a score when new evidence appears, specifications change, or prices shift significantly. We do not claim that every product has been physically tested by our team. Where relevant, we distinguish research-based evaluations from firsthand testing.
Affiliate commissions and commercial relationships do not determine RFL Scores.
How we choose top picks
For each buying guide or roundup, we identify the criteria that matter most to the intended reader, gather relevant products, and compare them using the available evidence. We then select products that stand out for particular purposes, such as best overall, best budget pick, or best for small kitchens.
We also state meaningful limitations. A product may excel in one use and fall short in another because of its price, noise, energy use, or the cost and availability of repairs.
Keeping recommendations current
Manufacturers release new models, change specifications, and adjust prices all the time. We revisit our guides when practical, and we may revise a score, replace a pick, or remove a product that no longer represents a strong choice. We cannot guarantee that every price, specification, or recommendation reflects real-time changes.
What we do not do
We do not accept payment in exchange for a predetermined rating or a guaranteed place in our recommendations. We do not treat manufacturer claims as independently verified results, and we do not present individual customer opinions as conclusive evidence.
